Trade Compliance Analyst

General Position Summary

The Trade Compliance Analyst will support a global trade compliance function with day-to-day import and export operations across multiple regions. This role focuses on international shipping documentation, import certification requirements, trade records management, shipment coordination, and collaboration with internal stakeholders and external logistics partners.

The ideal candidate has hands-on international trade experience and can independently manage operational activities, identify and resolve documentation gaps, coordinate with stakeholders and service providers, and appropriately escalate issues requiring specialized trade compliance expertise.

This is a U.S.-based remote position supporting a global organization.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare and review commercial invoices and other import/export documentation for international shipments.
• Coordinate the collection and maintenance of customs, transportation, clearance, and delivery records from freight forwarders, customs brokers, importers of record, and logistics providers.
• Track product certification, regulatory approvals, permits, and other import documentation requirements, following up with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
• Support international shipment requests, including employee equipment, marketing materials, returns, hand-carry shipments, and other non-standard movements.
• Review shipment requests for completeness, resolve routine documentation issues, and escalate complex trade compliance matters to appropriate subject matter experts.
• Maintain organized and retrievable trade compliance records, documentation repositories, and request trackers.
• Support ERP, Global Trade Management (GTM), data validation, and other trade compliance initiatives.
• Document recurring processes and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), checklists, and work instructions.
• Identify opportunities to improve, standardize, automate, and streamline trade compliance processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• 4-6 years of experience in trade compliance, customs, international trade operations, logistics, or import/export administration.
• Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing commercial invoices and international shipping documentation.
• Working knowledge of tariff classification, country of origin determination, customs valuation, and export control fundamentals, including export licensing concepts.
• Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, logistics providers, and related trade service partners.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and recognize when issues require escalation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams, regions, and time zones.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, business productivity applications, and trade-related systems; ERP and GTM experience preferred.
• Experience with process improvement initiatives, workflow automation, or AI-enabled tools is a plus.
