Job Description

The General Counsel’s Organization (GCO) and Centralized Supervisory Unit
(CSU) team in India includes the legal, compliance, and supervision functions that
support Ameriprise Financial and its subsidiaries.

We are seeking a qualified candidate to join the GCO Financial Crimes Privacy Compliance Team. This individual will support data protection and privacy operations designed to mitigate risk to the company and safeguard the personal information it collects. The role will focus on privacy compliance activities for Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ non-U.S. asset management business.

Key Responsibilities

To support these objectives, the individual will be responsible for the following duties, as well as any additional responsibilities assigned to meet broader team goals:

  • Perform Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) on projects and initiatives.
  • Facilitate Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), including communicating with requestors, coordinating with appropriate business partners to gather relevant information, and reviewing documents to support timely fulfillment.
  • Prepare data privacy risk and compliance reports on a recurring, periodic, and incident-driven basis.
  • Monitor Data Loss Prevention alerts involving potential exposure of individuals’ personal information.
  • Investigate assigned privacy breach cases, recommend appropriate mitigation measures, and track remediation activities through closure.
  • Perform ad hoc research, analysis, or other related work in support of the broader team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with 1 to 3 years of experience in privacy or a similar function.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, including under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, timely, and efficient.
  • Strong analytical, comprehension, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as the role requires regular communication with individuals within and outside the GCO.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, with strong attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills.

Desired Capabilities

  • Prior experience in a similar role within the asset management or financial services industry.

In-Office Collaboration

We are a client-centric, relationship-based business. Working together, in-person, is foundational to how we achieve results. By fostering a culture of face-to-face collaboration, idea sharing, productivity and personal connection, we deliver for our stakeholders — clients, advisors, employees and shareholders. Our employees work in the office at least three (3) days per week, with flexibility to work from home two (2) days per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, and specific requirements will be discussed during the hiring process
