What they need
We are offering a talented individual with an amazing 9-month fixed-term opportunity to work at Tower.
As a proud Kiwi-owned insurer, we pride ourselves in challenging status quo - and move fast to make things happen. We're here to create beautifully simple, rewarding experiences for our customers and communities, and we're working hard to protect the future of Aotearoa.
At its heart, insurance is about helping people through the unexpected. Doing what's right for our customers - especially in tough times - gives real purpose to our work.
About the role
- Provide trusted compliance and privacy advice across the business, helping ensure initiatives align with regulatory requirements while supporting Tower's customer-focused strategy.
- Partner with leaders and stakeholders to embed a strong culture of compliance through guidance, training, risk awareness, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and respond to regulatory change, investigate compliance matters, and influence business decisions as a strategic advisor within the Risk, Compliance and Conduct team.
What you’ll be doing
- Partner with leaders across Tower to provide expert compliance and privacy advice, helping the business understand and meet regulatory, conduct, and licensing obligations.
- Lead and enhance Tower's compliance framework, ensuring obligations are effectively managed, compliance risks are identified, and appropriate actions are taken to strengthen outcomes.
- Prepare and deliver compliance and privacy reporting, insights, and recommendations to leadership and governance forums to support informed decision-making.
- Assess compliance and privacy incidents, regulatory breaches, and remediation activities, providing guidance to minimise risk and achieve fair customer outcomes.
- Drive a strong compliance culture through training, policy development, regulatory monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives across New Zealand and the Pacific.
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
- A background in risk and compliance with at least five years' experience within the financial services industry.
- Experience developing, implementing and maintaining compliance management frameworks, including obligations management, regulatory change, compliance assurance and attestation processes.
- Experience preparing regulatory returns, including coordinating stakeholder input, assessing evidence and meeting regulatory timeframes.
- Experience assessing compliance incidents including consideration of customer impacts and regulator notification requirements.
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand financial services legislation, regulatory frameworks and licensing regimes, including experience interpreting and applying regulatory obligations within a practical business environment.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interpret regulatory requirements, prepare high-quality reports and policies, and present insights to senior leaders and governance groups.
- Customer-focused and relationship-driven, with proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence, coach, and support others to embed compliance and conduct considerations into everyday decision-making.
We invest in you.
We're serious about looking after our people. Along with a competitive salary, we offer a bunch of perks and benefits to support you and celebrate the work you do:
