Compliance Officer

We are seeking a qualified Compliance Officer to join a leading Red Circle Law Firm in Hong Kong. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you will ensure the firm's adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Regulatory compliance & monitoring

• Monitor changes in applicable laws/regulations and Law Society of Hong Kong requirements and translate them into internal guidance.

• Conduct periodic risk assessments and prepare management reports. Handle internal compliance incidents, complaints and regulatory queries. Coordinate with external advisors and regulators under direction of Partners.

• Client onboarding & conflicts

• Perform KYC/CDD checks and ongoing monitoring in accordance with AML/CFT regulations. Assist in conflict checks, intake procedures and maintenance of records.

• Escalate higher‑risk matters in consultation with management partners.

• Policies & training

• Draft and update compliance manuals, guidelines and procedures. Coordinate and deliver training (AML, sanctions, data privacy, anti‑bribery, professional conduct) to lawyers and staff to ensure all aware of the updates/changes.

• Data privacy & information security

• Support data protection and privacy compliance (including Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance). Work with IT and operations to promote information security best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB or equivalent)

• Minimum 2 years of legal experience, preferably with exposure to compliance, risk management, or regulatory matters in a law firm

• Strong understanding of Hong Kong legal regulatory framework and Law Society rules

• Knowledge of AML/CTF regulations and compliance best practices

• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication skills in English and Cantonese (Mandarin is an advantage)

• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion

• Professional compliance certification (ICA, ACAMS) preferred
