Compliance Testing Officer

About the role

We are seeking a Compliance Testing Officer to join Equicom Savings Bank, Inc. in our Makati City, Metro Manila office on a full-time basis. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our banking operations maintain the highest standards of regulatory compliance and internal controls. As a Compliance Testing Officer, you will play a critical part in safeguarding the bank's integrity, protecting our customers, and maintaining stakeholder confidence through rigorous compliance testing and monitoring activities. Your work will directly contribute to the bank's ability to operate within all applicable regulatory frameworks and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive compliance testing across various banking operations, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal guidelines
• Develop and execute compliance testing plans and audit programmes covering key risk areas including anti-money laundering (AML), know-your-customer (KYC), data protection, and fraud prevention
• Document testing results, findings, and observations in detailed compliance reports with clear recommendations for remediation
• Identify control deficiencies and policy breaches, escalating significant findings to senior management and regulatory bodies as appropriate
• Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions taken by business units in response to compliance issues
• Maintain detailed records of all compliance testing activities, evidence, and outcomes to support internal and external audit requirements
• Collaborate with relevant departments to understand operational processes and identify compliance risks and control gaps
• Support the Compliance and Risk team in preparing for regulatory inspections and providing necessary documentation to banking regulators
• Stay updated on evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices, incorporating these into testing methodologies
• Participate in compliance training initiatives and assist in raising awareness of compliance obligations across the organisation

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accountancy, Finance, Law, or a related field
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in compliance, risk management, internal audit, or a related field within the banking or financial services sector
• Strong knowledge of banking regulations, anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, and data protection laws applicable in the Philippines
• Proficiency in compliance testing methodologies, audit techniques, and risk assessment frameworks
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies and control weaknesses
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with compliance management software or audit tools
• Professional certifications such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CCCA (Certified Compliance and Controls Associate), or equivalent are highly desirable
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, regulated environment
• Demonstrated integrity, ethical standards, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple testing projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
