JOB SUMMARY: An experienced, hands-on Comptroller will lead all financial operations for our manufacturing company. Reporting directly to the President/Owner, this role serves as a strategic financial partner and operational leader responsible for accurate reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and internal controls in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Direct all accounting operations: general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and bank reconciliations

● Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP

● Manage cost accounting: standard/job costing, WIP tracking, variance analysis (material, labor, overhead), and inventory valuation

● Report key manufacturing metrics gross margin by product line, overhead absorption, and production cost trends

● Lead annual budgeting and multi-year forecasting; deliver monthly budget-vs.-actual reports with actionable commentary

● Monitor cash flow and working capital; manage banking relationships and covenant compliance

● Design and maintain internal controls; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax obligations

● Coordinate external audits and serve as primary liaison with auditors and tax advisors

● Evaluate and improve accounting systems and ERP workflows; lead or support system upgrades

● Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff

QUALIFICATIONS

● Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required

● Certification: CPA required or actively in progress (CMA a plus)

● Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience; minimum 3 years at Controller/Comptroller level

● Industry: Manufacturing experience required — job-shop or custom fabrication backgrounds especially valued

● Cost Accounting: Hands-on expertise in standard costing, job costing, variance analysis, and inventory management

● Systems: Proficiency with ERP/accounting software (QuickBooks Enterprise, Sage, Epicor, or similar); advanced Excel

● Prior experience implementing an ERP system or managing multi-entity consolidations a plus

Pay: $94,200.00 - $110,000.00 per year
