Comptroller

Position Title: Comptroller

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)/Executive Director

Purpose of the Position

The Comptroller serves as the senior financial leader for Futures, overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, budgeting support, audit coordination, and financial strategy for a growing and diverse nonprofit organization.

Employment Details

Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience (min: $115,000-$125,000)

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations and period-end close
• Prepare financial statements and management reports
• Ensure GAAP and grant compliance
• Manage fund accounting
• Coordinate annual audit and Form 990
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management
• Strengthen internal controls
• Supervise AP, billing, payroll and accounting functions
• Support growth planning through financial analysis

• Scalable financial systems supporting growth beyond $13M

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 7-10 years progressive accounting experience
• Nonprofit fund accounting experience
• Audit management experience
• Strong supervisory, analytical, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA preferred
• Experience with nonprofits exceeding $11M
• Knowledge of Connecticut funding and compliance requirements
• Experience with social enterprises
