This is an opportunity for a financial leader who values accuracy, transparency, accountability, and collaboration. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Comptroller will oversee accounting, budgeting, payroll, financial reporting, internal controls, grants, and revenue-cycle financial activities. The ideal candidate can organize financial information, explain it clearly, and help leadership make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead TMRC’s financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
· Develop and monitor organizational budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director and department leadership.
· Prepare timely financial statements and analyses, provide a quarterly profit-and-loss statement (statement of activities) to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, and present current financial reports at monthly Board meetings.
· Maintain accurate financial records, complete or oversee account reconciliations, and support audits and required financial filings.
· Establish and maintain effective internal controls, approval processes, and appropriate separation of financial duties.
· Process payroll from properly approved time, leave, personnel, and reimbursement documentation and ensure payroll records and filings are complete and accurate.
· Provide financial oversight of Medicaid and other payer reimbursement, billing activity, receivables, denials, and related revenue-cycle functions.
· Oversee the financial administration and documentation of grants, designated funding, and IHS Section 105(l) lease funding.
· Review purchase orders, contracts, leases, reimbursements, and other financial obligations and provide recommendations to the Executive Director.
· Supervise the Billing Specialist and any other personnel assigned to the Finance Department.
· Ensure the Executive Director has timely access to financial systems, reports, accounts, and supporting records.
QualificationsRequired
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, healthcare administration, public administration, or a closely related field.
· Five years of progressively responsible accounting or financial-management experience, including budgeting, payroll, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
· Experience using accounting, payroll, spreadsheet, and financial-reporting systems.
· Strong judgment, integrity, organization, communication, and attention to detail.
· Ability to successfully complete required background screening, drug testing, orientation, and training.
· Working knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act and applicable federal and North Dakota wage-and-hour requirements.
Preferred
· Two or more years of supervisory or financial-team leadership experience.
· Experience in nonprofit healthcare, behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, residential treatment, or a related human-services setting.
· Experience with Medicaid, Medicaid managed care or expansion programs, behavioral-health funding sources, claims reimbursement, and healthcare revenue-cycle operations.
· Experience with grants, audits, IHS Section 105(l) lease funding, or similar facility-cost funding arrangements.
· CPA, CMA, CHFP, comparable professional credential, or a relevant master’s degree.
