Senior Software Engineer, Compute Platform & Cloud Infrastructure

Location: Greater Boston Area (Hybrid)

Compensation: $135,000 - $325,000 Base + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits

About the Opportunity

Our client is a leading quantitative investment management firm that leverages advanced technology, large-scale data, and systematic research to drive investment decisions. Technology is at the core of the business, and engineering teams play a critical role in building the platforms that power research, portfolio construction, trading, and analytics.

The firm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Compute Platforms team , responsible for developing the foundational infrastructure that supports compute, workflow orchestration, messaging, AI, and observability capabilities across the organization.

This is a highly visible, hands-on opportunity to design and build large-scale distributed systems while partnering closely with research and engineering teams on business-critical platforms.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop scalable compute, workflow, messaging, AI, and observability platforms
• Collaborate with research and engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions
• Lead architecture discussions and drive technical decisions for large-scale distributed systems
• Build cloud-native solutions using AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Python, and related technologies
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and deployment processes
• Perform code reviews and mentor team members on engineering best practices
• Participate in production support and on-call rotations for critical platform services

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably with Python or another object-oriented language
• 4+ years designing and architecting large-scale production systems
• 3+ years building distributed, high-performance applications
• 3+ years developing cloud-native solutions on AWS or similar public cloud platforms
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized environments
• Strong CI/CD, DevOps, Git, and GitLab experience
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, networking, operating systems, and system design
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple engineering teams

Preferred Background

• Experience within financial services, asset management, or quantitative trading environments
• Exposure to high-performance computing, workflow orchestration, messaging systems, or platform engineering
• Passion for building resilient, scalable, and business-critical infrastructure
