Job Summary

The Heritage School, Vasant Kunj, invites applications from qualified, enthusiastic and technology-oriented educators for the position of Computer Science Teacher. The ideal candidate should possess strong subject knowledge, practical programming skills and the ability to make computer science engaging through hands-on activities, coding exercises and project-based learning.

The candidate will be responsible for teaching computer science concepts, Python programming, computational thinking, problem-solving and digital literacy, in accordance with the curriculum and grade allocation assigned by the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Computer Science and Information Technology lessons across the assigned grades.
• Teach Python programming, including variables, data types, operators, conditional statements, loops, functions, strings, lists, dictionaries and other relevant concepts.
• Develop students’ logical reasoning, algorithmic thinking, debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Introduce programming fundamentals through practical coding exercises, real-world examples and project-based learning.
• Teach foundational concepts of computer systems, operating systems, databases, networking, cybersecurity and digital citizenship, as relevant to the curriculum.
• Guide students in writing, testing, debugging and improving Python programs.
• Design practical assignments, coding challenges, worksheets, projects and assessments to evaluate student learning.
• Integrate educational technology, digital tools and age-appropriate AI concepts into teaching wherever relevant.
• Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback and support learners with diverse abilities.
• Maintain lesson plans, assessment records and other academic documentation.
• Ensure responsible, ethical and safe use of technology in the computer laboratory.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects, technology-enabled activities and innovative learning experiences.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications or a related discipline.
• B.Ed. preferred, subject to the applicable eligibility requirements for the assigned grades.
• Strong conceptual understanding of programming fundamentals and computer science.

Required Skills

• Practical proficiency in Python programming and debugging.
• Ability to explain programming concepts clearly to school students.
• Knowledge of algorithms, flowcharts, pseudocode and computational thinking.
• Familiarity with programming environments such as IDLE, VS Code or Jupyter Notebook.
• Understanding of digital literacy, cybersecurity and responsible technology use.
• Effective classroom management, communication and lesson-planning skills.
• Ability to develop engaging practical activities and evaluate coding assignments.

Experience

Relevant school-level teaching experience is preferred. Candidates with strong Python programming skills, sound academic credentials and a demonstrated aptitude for teaching may also be considered.

Experience teaching Computer Science to secondary and senior secondary students will be an advantage.
