Skilled Concrete Builder - Vertical Concrete, Tanks, Bridges - Heavy Civil Structures

Highly skilled and motivated Concrete Builder needed for complex heavy civil construction. The ideal candidate has proven experience building vertical concrete and structural elements for water-bearing structures and bridges, and understands that precision, durability, and execution are non-negotiable.

This role is for professionals who take pride in their craft, remain adaptable in the field, and are willing to support all phases of heavy civil work, from formwork and finishes to excavation and piping operations when required. We build as one team—no clicks, no entitlement, no victims.

Core Scope of Work – Vertical Concrete, Bridges & Heavy Civil Structures

  • Construct, erect, and strip engineered vertical concrete formwork for:
  • Concrete Pipe Encasements
  • Vertical Concrete Encasements
  • Water and wastewater tanks, vaults, and boxes
  • Bridge substructures including footings, stems, columns, walls, and caps
  • Perform gang forming, snap-tie and taper-tie wall systems, and modular engineered forming systems.
  • Execute layout and installation of:
  • Embedded items
  • Blockouts
  • Waterstops
  • Sleeves and penetrations
  • Work in tight tolerances for plumb, square, elevation, and finish quality.
  • Coordinate closely with reinforcing steel crews, including climbing rebar and congested reinforcement.
  • Place, consolidate, vibrate, and finish concrete to meet structural and water-tight performance requirements.
  • Perform architectural and structural concrete finishing as required.

Water / Wastewater & Bridge Experience

  • Prior experience on:
  • Water or wastewater treatment facilities
  • Pump stations, tanks, vaults, and process structures
  • Bridge structures and heavy civil structural concrete
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Water-bearing concrete requirements
  • Joint detailing and sealing systems
  • Long-term durability and leak prevention
  • Inspection-driven work and documentation

Versatility & Team-First Execution (Critical Requirement)

Our company self-performs heavy civil excavation, underground piping, above-grade mechanical, and concrete work. Ideal candidates understand that success requires flexibility and teamwork.

Candidates must be willing and able to assist in all field operations as needed, including:

  • Supporting excavation and earthwork operations
  • Assisting with Vertical Pipe Encasements
  • Assisting with below-grade pipe installation (storm, sewer, water)
  • Helping with above-grade mechanical or structural installs
  • Performing additional general carpentry or jobsite support tasks
  • Working alongside operators, laborers, pipe crews, and mechanics

This is not a single-scope role. This is a builder’s role.

Site Operations & Coordination

  • Read and interpret structural drawings, formwork plans, profiles, and details.
  • Assist with layout, elevations, and pour sequencing.
  • Coordinate daily activities with foremen, superintendents, inspectors, and other trades.
  • Maintain organized, efficient, and safe work areas.
  • Support concrete placements, excavation, and production schedules as required.

Safety Standards & Accountability

  • Maintain exceptional safety standards—non-negotiable.
  • Follow OSHA, company, and site-specific safety protocols at all times.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, JHAs, and toolbox talks.
  • Properly use PPE, fall protection, rigging, and access systems.
  • Exercise stop-work authority if unsafe conditions exist.

Hazard Awareness

  • Identify and mitigate hazards related to:
  • Elevated and bridge work
  • Confined spaces
  • Rebar congestion
  • Formwork loading and stripping
  • Excavation and trench operations
  • Concrete placement activities

Certifications (Preferred, Not Required)

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Rigging & Signaling
  • CPR / First Aid
  • Concrete or formwork-related training

  • Consistency: Reliable attendance and steady performance.
  • Accountability: Owns results and follows through.
  • Integrity: Does the right thing—especially when no one is watching.
  • Pride in the Work: Understands that bridges and water structures must be built right the first time.
  • Competitiveness: Works daily to improve—to win.
  • Physical Endurance: Capable of long hours in demanding outdoor environments.

Communication & Professionalism

  • Communicate clearly with crew members, operators, foremen, and supervisors.
