Job Overview

Austin Texas Construction is seeking an experienced Concrete Finisher to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in performing and leading the completion of a variety of concrete projects and finishes. This position requires strong knowledge of concrete installation, finishing techniques, jobsite preparation, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a crew.

The Concrete Finisher will be responsible for assisting with all phases of concrete work, from preparation and placement through final finishing, while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist crews in the completion of residential and commercial concrete projects.
• Perform a variety of concrete finishing techniques based on project specifications.
• Prepare work areas, forms, subgrade, reinforcement, and other materials prior to concrete placement.
• Assist with measuring, placing, spreading, screeding, and leveling concrete.
• Finish concrete using hand tools and power equipment, including bull floats, trowels, edgers, and other finishing equipment.
• Perform different types of concrete finishes, including smooth, broom, exposed aggregate, stamped, textured, and other specified finishes.
• Maintain proper grades, slopes, elevations, edges, joints, and transitions.
• Assist with forming, reinforcing, pouring, and finishing concrete.
• Operate and maintain concrete finishing tools and equipment.
• Monitor concrete during placement and finishing to ensure proper timing and consistency.
• Lead crew members during concrete installation and finishing activities when assigned.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, supervisors, and crew members.
• Identify potential issues with concrete placement, finishing, forms, or site conditions and communicate them promptly.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite throughout the project.
• Follow all company safety procedures and applicable construction standards.
• Complete projects efficiently while maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship.
• Assist with other general construction duties as needed.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional concrete finishing experience preferred.
• Proficient in multiple concrete finishing techniques and applications.
• Ability to lead and coordinate a small concrete crew.
• Strong understanding of concrete placement, finishing, curing, and jointing.
• Ability to read plans, specifications, and measurements.
• Proficient with common concrete finishing tools and equipment.
• Ability to recognize proper concrete finishing timing and conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and effectively lead others.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
• Ability to safely lift materials and perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• OSHA or construction safety training is a plus.
