About Us

Blue Planet Systems is an innovative emissions control company dedicated to mitigating climate change through scalable, impactful technology. We specialize in capturing carbon dioxide emissions and transforming them into synthetic limestone, a sustainable aggregate used across the building and construction sector. By permanently sequestering carbon in concrete and other building materials, we are creating a greener, more sustainable future for the built environment.

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Concrete Lab Technician to join our construction materials testing team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests and inspections on concrete and related materials to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications. Your expertise will support quality control efforts on construction sites, helping to deliver durable, safe, and high-quality concrete structures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors and in a laboratory setting, applying your technical skills to real-world projects while collaborating with construction professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing of concrete samples in accordance with ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials), and ACI (American Concrete Institute) standards.
  • Collect, record, and analyze data related to concrete strength, slump, air content, temperature, and other critical properties.
  • Conduct construction materials inspection, including soil testing, asphalt testing, masonry evaluation, and construction inspection activities on-site.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of test results, sample logs, and inspection reports using Microsoft Office tools for data management and reporting.
  • Assist in quality control processes by identifying deviations from specifications and recommending corrective actions.
  • Support construction site activities by performing concrete forming inspections and ensuring proper application of construction techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members regarding test results, project progress, and quality assurance measures.

Requirements

  • Prior laboratory experience in construction materials testing or related fields is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ASTM standards, ACI standards, and AASHTO standards relevant to concrete and construction materials.
  • Experience with construction site activities such as soil testing, asphalt testing, masonry work, and concrete forming is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for data collection, report writing, and documentation purposes.
  • Basic math skills including numeracy for measurements, calculations, and analysis of test data.
  • Ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions while maintaining safety protocols.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analysis skills to identify material deficiencies or quality issues.
  • Effective communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
  • Construction site experience combined with a background in construction inspection or quality control is advantageous.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks such as sample collection, equipment setup, and field inspections.

Qualifications

● Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.

● Experience: Previous hands-on experience working in a concrete testing laboratory is highly preferred.

● Expertise: Strong familiarity with relevant ASTM standards for concrete and aggregate testing.

● Skills: Proven ability to batch concrete, manage lab material supplies, and operate concrete testing equipment. Strong organizational and data management skills.

● Work Style: A proactive, safety-conscious professional who excels in a collaborative, hands-on, and fast-paced start-up laboratory environment.

Join our team as a Concrete Lab Technician if you’re passionate about ensuring the highest standards in construction materials! Your technical proficiency combined with your dedication to quality will make a significant impact on our projects’ success while providing you with valuable hands-on experience in the industry.
