Armor Utility Locating LLC is seeking a skilled, dependable, and detail-oriented Concrete Scanning Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology to identify and locate embedded objects within concrete structures. This position requires technical expertise, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing accurate results while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform concrete scanning using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment to identify and locate embedded objects within concrete slabs, walls, and other structures.
• Accurately identify and mark embedded materials, including:
• Reinforcing steel (rebar) and wire mesh.
• Post-tension cables.
• Electrical conduits.
• Plumbing and utility lines.
• Voids, anomalies, and other subsurface obstructions.
• Conduct pre-drilling, coring, cutting, and anchoring inspections to help prevent damage to embedded utilities and structural components.
• Interpret GPR data to determine the approximate location and depth of embedded materials.
• Clearly mark identified objects on concrete surfaces using appropriate marking methods.
• Read, understand, and interpret construction drawings, structural plans, blueprints, and as-built documentation.
• Prepare accurate field reports, scanning documentation, sketches, and findings for clients.
• Communicate scanning results, potential hazards, and limitations of the findings to project managers, contractors, and clients.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate GPR scanning equipment according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Work independently or collaboratively with field personnel to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
• Follow all company safety policies, jobsite requirements, and applicable industry safety standards.
• Maintain a professional appearance and provide exceptional customer service while representing Armor Utility Locating LLC.

Qualifications

• Experience (Required): Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience performing concrete scanning using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment. General utility locating experience alone does not satisfy this requirement.
• Technical Skills: Experience operating Ground Penetrating Radar equipment and interpreting scanning results.
• Construction Knowledge: Familiarity with concrete construction, reinforcement systems, post-tensioned concrete, and embedded utilities.
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret construction drawings, structural plans, and related documentation.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings clearly.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork, including kneeling, bending, standing for extended periods, lifting equipment, and working in active construction environments.
• Driving: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
• Attributes: Detail-oriented, dependable, safety-conscious, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
• Certifications: GPR, concrete scanning, OSHA, or other relevant industry certifications are preferred.
