Configuration Design Engineer 5 (Virtual)

For our client, we are seeking a Configuration Design Engineer 5 (Virtual) to join the team of a leader in the Aerospace & Defense space.

This role will lead configuration design efforts for advanced aerospace vehicle concepts, translating customer needs into viable engineering solutions. You will drive multi-discipline trade studies, define design parameters that balance regulatory requirements and cost considerations, and help ensure strong technical alignment across engineering teams. The position also includes mentoring team members and contributing to disciplined best practices in a highly regulated industry.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $153,000 – $239,200 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead the design synthesis of innovative aerospace vehicles
• Develop configuration designs based on customer needs
• Conduct multi-discipline trade studies for design viability
• Define regulatory and cost-effective design parameters
• Mentor team members in best practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• 5-7 years of experience in aerospace/aeronautical design
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance
• Proven leadership in multi-discipline projects
• Strong analytical skills for trade studies
