What they need
Our client is a global energy & commodity trading group; recognized as one of the most exciting and commercially driven Commodity Trading houses in the industry!
As the Confirmations Analyst, you will sit within the Financial Operations team, making sure trades executed across multiple legal entities are captured accurately and confirmed within required timeframes.
The roll covers a variety of products including European Power & Gas, LNG, Oil derivatives, Emissions, Precious Metals and FX, so you will build genuine breadth across the commodity complex.
Alongside confirmations, you will own the daily regulatory reporting cycle end to end - exception management, resubmission and reconciliation against trade repositories. It is a role with real ownership: you will be the person accountable for getting the day's reporting clean and the point of contact when something breaks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Confirmations:
- Interpret trade bookings and amendments across the full product range.
- Generate, review and issue confirmations for OTC trades.
- Investigate and reconcile breaks, escalating to the right stakeholders with a clear picture of the issue.
- Work across the relevant master agreement and confirmation frameworks.
- Monitor daily KPIs, making sure aged items and outstanding issues are cleared promptly.
- Prioritise and escalate risk items.
Regulatory reporting:
- Manage REMIT reporting of wholesale energy transactions and orders to ACER via the firm's RRM, covering both standard and non-standard contracts.
- Own the daily exceptions and rejections queue: investigate validation failures, correct the underlying data at source wherever possible and resubmit ahead of the reporting deadline.
- Reconcile positions against trade repositories and resolve discrepancies.
Change and stakeholders:
- Onboard new counterparties, products and templates into the confirmation’s workflow, working with Legal and Credit.
- Review and improve existing processes, including testing changes through to go-live.
- Keep team procedures current as market and regulatory requirements evolve.
- Work closely with IT, Scheduling, Trading and Middle Office across multiple locations.
- Support due diligence, research and investigations requested by senior management and external auditors.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Ideal candidate will have 2-3 years Energy/Commodity confirmation’s experience.
- Hands-on exposure to oil derivatives, European Power & Gas and metals.
- Solid derivatives product knowledge.
- Strong systems skills - ideally Openlink, ICE eConfirm, Equias / Fidectus and FXAll.
- Strong numerical and analytical ability, with the attention to detail the role demands.
- Comfortable using risk systems to monitor and manage workflow.
- Regulatory reporting experience, particularly REMIT or EMIR is desirable
