Construction CAD Layout Specialist

We are looking for a CAD Layout Specialist with a few years of hands-on construction experience who understands how construction projects come together and can apply that knowledge in a technology-focused role. The ideal candidate is computer-savvy, genuinely enjoys working with computers, and is comfortable spending most of their day behind a desk reviewing, creating, and managing CAD and layout files.

This is primarily an office-based position, with some travel to job sites to better understand field conditions and support project needs. Experience with CAD, surveying, or layout technology is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate who brings the construction knowledge, technical curiosity, attention to detail, and desire to learn.

What you'll do:

• Create, edit, and prepare CAD files for field layout and construction
• Review structural and architectural drawings and identify conflicts or discrepancies
• Manage layout activities for assigned projects from start to finish
• Establish horizontal and vertical control using Robotic Total Stations
• Establish control lines, elevation points, and benchmarks
• Layout foundations, columns, walls and other structural elements
• Perform field measurements and assist with surveying activities
• Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and field crews to solve layout challenges
• Maintain, organize, and properly use surveying and layout equipment
• Continue developing your skills through CAD, layout, surveying, and field technology training

What we're looking for:

• At least two years of Construction, surveying, layout or field engineering experience
• Strong ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Comfortable working both behind a computer and on active construction sites
• Must take initiative and be able to work independently
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites

Work Environment:

This position will be a combination of field and office work with potential exposure to loud noise, moving equipment, dust and outdoor elements. The worker is exposed to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, including extreme cold and heat for extended periods exceeding one hour.
