What they need

Position Summary

Partners Commercial Cleaning is seeking dependable, safety-conscious Construction Cleaning Equipment Operators to support cleanup and prepare newly constructed spaces for occupancy.

Working as part of an approximately 20-person team, you will operate assigned equipment, perform floor cleaning, support elevated cleaning and material movement as directed, and assist with general construction cleaning. Equipment used on site includes forklifts, scissor lifts, scrubbers, and ride-on sweepers.

Successful team members exercise sound judgment, protect newly installed finishes, remain aware of nearby crews, and take pride in maintaining equipment and delivering quality work.

The initial construction cleaning assignment is anticipated to last approximately 6–12 months and may extend based on project progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate assigned scrubbers and ride-on sweepers to remove dust, dirt, and debris from designated floor areas during construction hours.
  • Operate forklifts and scissor lifts for authorized cleaning support and material movement tasks.
  • Complete required pre-use equipment inspections and report defects, damage, or operating concerns promptly.
  • Remove unsafe or malfunctioning equipment from service accordingly.
  • Check work areas before operating equipment, including floor conditions, access routes, overhead obstructions, and nearby people or site property.
  • Follow equipment operating instructions, load and capacity limits, and site traffic procedures.
  • Use cleaning methods, pads, brushes, and products appropriate for the floor surface and seek guidance when requirements are unclear.
  • Protect completed finishes, fixtures, walls, doors, and surrounding areas from equipment damage.
  • Clean equipment after use and perform routine care within the scope of training; refer repairs to authorized personnel.
  • Follow assigned charging or fueling procedures and store equipment in designated areas.
  • Support general construction cleaning, including debris collection, vacuuming, mopping, surface cleaning, and detailing when equipment operation is not needed.
  • Communicate completed work, delays, equipment availability, and supply needs to the Site Lead.
  • Report incidents, near misses, property damage, and unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Follow site access rules, safety procedures, and required personal protective equipment practices.
  • Perform other related cleaning and equipment support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to demonstrate safe equipment operation through company training and evaluation before independent use.
  • Ability to follow operating instructions, recognize hazards, and communicate concerns promptly.
  • Attention to detail and care when working around newly installed surfaces and finishes.
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and ability to work the assigned schedule.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with the cleaning team and other crews on site.
  • Willingness to perform hands-on cleaning duties in addition to equipment operation.
  • Reliable transportation to the Bastrop worksite.
  • Ability to lift between 25-30 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Prior forklift and scissor lift operating experience.
  • Experience operating commercial scrubbers and ride-on sweepers.
  • Familiarity with equipment inspections and routine equipment care.

Preferred

  • Experience in construction cleanup, commercial cleaning, floor care, or a similar environment.

Prior experience does not replace company-required training, evaluation, or authorization to operate assigned equipment.

Equipment Training and Qualifications

Required Before Independent Equipment Operation

  • Complete applicable equipment-specific training and demonstrate safe operation of each assigned machine.
  • Successfully complete the forklift practical training and workplace evaluation requirements before receiving authorization to operate.
  • Demonstrate proper scissor lift use, including equipment controls, inspections, positioning, and recognition of site hazards.
  • Complete site-specific safety orientation and receive authorization before operating assigned equipment.
  • Provide any prior equipment training records for review.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

The work involves extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking; climbing on and off equipment; bending and reaching; and pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying cleaning tools, supplies, and designated materials.

Assigned duties may include working at elevation from a scissor lift. Employees will work in an active construction environment where conditions may include dust, noise, uneven surfaces, changing temperatures, moving equipment, and activity from other crews.

Required protective equipment must be worn as directed.

Potential Transition to Building Services

As completed areas become operational, employees may be considered for day porter, floor care, or other ongoing building service assignments based on available positions, qualifications, performance, and business needs.

These assignments may include maintaining floors and common areas, operating cleaning equipment around building occupants, responding to cleaning needs, and providing courteous service. Partners will communicate the duties, schedule, location, and pay for any proposed assignment before the transition.
