Contracts Manager – Groundworks

Location: Hertfordshire and London

Projects: Managing 4–5 projects valued at £4m–£15m each

Company

Our client is an established, family-owned groundworks and civil engineering contractor operating across the UK. The business delivers major groundworks, reinforced concrete and infrastructure packages for leading contractors and developers.

Role

The Contracts Manager will oversee multiple groundworks projects from pre-construction through to completion. Planning and programming are central to the role, with responsibility for developing, reviewing and updating project programmes using Asta Powerproject .

Responsibilities

• Manage 4–5 live projects, ensuring safe, timely and commercially successful delivery.
• Produce and maintain detailed programmes using Asta Powerproject.
• Review progress, identify delays and introduce recovery programmes.
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors across each project.
• Lead Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers and site teams.
• Work with commercial teams on costs, variations and forecasts.
• Attend client meetings and provide clear progress reports.
• Maintain strong safety, quality and environmental standards.

Experience

• Contracts Manager or Project Manager experience within groundworks or civil engineering.
• Strong planning and programming skills.
• Confident user of Asta Powerproject.
• Experience managing several projects simultaneously.
• Technical knowledge of excavation, drainage, foundations, concrete, utilities and external works.
• Strong leadership, commercial awareness and client-facing skills.
• SMSTS, CSCS and a full UK driving licence.
