Construction Controller

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to oversee financial operations within a dynamic construction environment, specializing in public works projects. The ideal candidate will manage accounting functions, ensure accurate project billing, and support project management through financial insights. This role requires a strong understanding of construction accounting processes, including progress billing, payroll, and project management software such as Sage and Miter programs. The Controller will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting the company's growth.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting functions related to public works construction projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with industry standards.
• Manage progress billing processes using specialized software tools such as Sage Program and Miter Program to prepare and review billing forms efficiently.
• Supervise payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing for all employees involved in construction projects.
• Coordinate with project managers to track project costs, budgets, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain detailed records of project expenses, revenues, and other financial data to facilitate audits and reporting requirements.
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements related to construction finance and accounting practices.
• Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial workflows and improve overall operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar senior finance role within the construction industry, preferably with public works projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting processes, including progress billing forms, payroll management, and project cost tracking.
• Proficiency with Sage Program, Miter Program, or similar construction management software tools.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in all work tasks.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and presenting financial information clearly.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification such as CPA is preferred but not required.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the financial health of our construction projects while working within a collaborative team environment.

Pay: $109,000.00 - $132,000.00 per year
