What they need

Ciorba Group's Crown Point office is our gateway to the Indiana market, strategically positioned to serve INDOT, northwest Indiana counties, and communities along the Illinois-Indiana corridor. It's a growing practice with real runway, and the people here play an outsized role in shaping where it goes.

Ciorba Group is an employee-owned (ESOP) engineering firm with offices in Chicago, Peoria, and Crown Point. We deliver roadway, structural, water resources, electrical and lighting, and construction engineering solutions for DOTs, counties, and municipalities across the Midwest. We're people-first, collaborative, and invested in long-term careers, both for our clients' infrastructure and our own team.

An Engineer IV has the responsibility to make decisions and interpretations affecting the outcome of a construction project. Tasks performed require broad knowledge of engineering fundamentals with minimal immediate supervision needed, as typically required for a licensed professional. An Engineer IV may work on several projects at one time, reporting to the assigned Resident Engineer. Projects involve numerous contractors and subcontractors who must be monitored for schedules, workmanship, and contract performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee inspection of local agency construction projects involving roadway and bridge improvements using local, state, and federal funding.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily work efforts for each assigned staff member.
  • Prepare all construction documentation per INDOT policies and procedures.
  • Measure and calculate pay item quantities, prepare contractor pay applications, and oversee preparation of construction record drawings.
  • Coordinate directly with the client providing daily or weekly reporting, preparing for and chairing preconstruction meetings, and responding directly to the client with project issues.
  • Anticipate and/or resolve issues arising from change of site conditions or design related problems.
  • Verify required sampling and testing of materials.
  • Work closely with other team members and positively interact with the public.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management
  • Indiana Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 6+ years of experience
  • Certified in INDOT Construction Inspection Proficiencies
  • Strong Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to learn through on the job mentoring and training
  • MicroStation experience a plus
