What they need
Ciorba Group's Peoria office just got a major upgrade, newly remodeled and purpose-built for growth in central and downstate Illinois. We're expanding our presence with IDOT District 4 and local agency clients, and we're looking for people who want to be part of building something, not just joining something.
Ciorba Group is an employee-owned (ESOP) engineering firm headquartered in Chicago, with offices in Peoria and Crown Point. We work with DOTs, counties, and municipalities on roadway, structural, water resources, electrical and lighting, and construction engineering projects across the Midwest. We're people-first and committed to building careers alongside infrastructure.
An Engineer IV has the responsibility to make decisions and interpretations affecting the outcome of a construction project. Tasks performed require broad knowledge of engineering fundamentals with minimal immediate supervision needed, as is typically required for a licensed professional. An Engineer IV may work on several projects at one time, reporting to the assigned Resident Engineer. Projects involve numerous contractors and subcontractors who must be monitored for schedules, workmanship, and contract performance.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee inspection of local agency construction projects involving roadway and bridge improvements using local, state, and federal funding.
- Supervise and coordinate daily work efforts for each assigned staff member.
- Prepare all construction documentation per IDOT BLR&S requirements using CMMS, or similar detailed local agency required documentation.
- Measure and calculate pay item quantities, prepare contractor pay applications, and oversee preparation of construction record drawings.
- Coordinate directly with the client, providing daily or weekly reporting, preparing for and chairing preconstruction meetings, and responding directly to the client with project issues.
- Anticipate and/or resolve issues arising from change of site conditions or design related problems.
- Verify that the required contractor QC and consultant QA material inspection and testing is performed and documented.
- Work closely with other team members and positively interact with the public.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management
- Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 6+ years of experience
- Certified in IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to learn through on-the-job training
- MicroStation experience a plus
