Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our commercial construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing blueprints and technical drawings, and collaborating closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors. Duties

• Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to interpret project scope and requirements accurately.
• Develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools.
• Analyze material requirements from blueprints and coordinate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
• Manage project budgets by tracking costs, controlling expenses, and implementing effective cost management strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
• Utilize construction management software and spreadsheets to prepare comprehensive bid proposals and estimate reports.
• Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure favorable pricing and terms that align with project budgets.
• Collaborate with project teams to review construction schedules, identify potential risks, and ensure accurate estimation of project timelines.
• Conduct site visits when necessary to gather on-the-ground information that influences cost estimation accuracy.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding project scope, estimates, and potential cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in construction estimating for commercial projects within the construction industry.
• Strong proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent platforms; experience with Bluebeam is highly preferred.
• Excellent blueprint reading skills coupled with the ability to interpret technical drawings and construction documents accurately.
• Solid understanding of construction management software tools and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel spreadsheets for detailed analysis.
• Demonstrated ability in managing projects as a construction estimator from initial bid through project completion.
• Knowledge of material cost estimating, cost control techniques, and pricing strategies in the construction sector.
• Effective negotiation skills with vendors, clients, and subcontractors to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Construction site experience is advantageous for better project understanding; familiarity with Xactimate or similar estimating tools is a plus.
• Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration; experience in managing multiple estimates simultaneously is desirable.

Pay: $69,280.66 - $83,434.77 per year
