Construction Estimator

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our commercial construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project plans, and collaborating closely with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and project feasibility. Your expertise will help us deliver high-quality construction solutions on time and within budget, fueling our growth and reputation in the flooring industry. Responsibilities

• Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs.
• Develop detailed project estimates using estimating software such as PlanSwift, On Screen Takeoff & QuickBid or similar tools, ensuring all aspects of the project are accounted for.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously by preparing comprehensive bid proposals, budgets, and cost analyses.
• Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams through effective negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms.
• Conduct site visits to assess project conditions, verify quantities, and gather data necessary for precise cost estimation.
• Monitor project budgets throughout the bidding process and during construction to maintain cost control and identify potential overruns early.
• Utilize construction management software like Building Connected, Newforma or Procore to review plans, annotate drawings, and streamline estimation workflows.
• Prepare detailed spreadsheets for cost management, material takeoffs, and estimating material requirements from blueprints.
• Communicate clearly with clients regarding project scope, pricing strategies, and potential value engineering options.
• Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, labor rates, and new estimating techniques to continuously improve accuracy and efficiency.

Skills

• Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, PlanSwift, OST, QBid, or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of construction management software tools for project planning and documentation.
• Excellent blueprint reading skills with the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience managing projects as a construction estimator within commercial or heavy civil sectors.
• Skilled in negotiation with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to achieve optimal pricing outcomes.
• Deep understanding of construction industry practices including cost control, material cost estimating, contract review, and project management principles.
• Ability to read and analyze construction drawings accurately while reviewing plans for scope clarification.
• Familiarity with spreadsheets for estimating quantities, costs, and preparing detailed reports.
• Effective communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration across multiple stakeholders.
• Knowledge of construction site operations combined with experience in construction management ensures realistic estimations aligned with on-the-ground realities.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
