Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our commercial construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing blueprints and technical drawings, and collaborating closely with clients, project managers, and suppliers to develop competitive bids. Your expertise will help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. Duties

• Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs.
• Develop detailed project budgets by analyzing scope of work, material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor quotes using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools.
• Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that include pricing strategies, cost breakdowns, and risk assessments to secure new projects.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and suppliers through negotiation to optimize project costs and ensure competitive pricing.
• Manage multiple estimation projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
• Utilize construction management software and Bluebeam for digital plan review, markup, and document management.
• Conduct site visits when necessary to gather on-the-ground information that influences cost estimates and project planning.
• Monitor ongoing project costs against estimates to support cost control efforts and identify potential overruns early.
• Review construction drawings thoroughly to identify potential issues or discrepancies that could impact costs or schedules.
• Assist in developing project timelines, resource planning, and procurement strategies aligned with budget constraints.

Skills

• Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent platforms for accurate cost calculation.
• Strong knowledge of Bluebeam for digital plan review and markup processes.
• Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and construction documents with precision.
• Experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry.
• Solid understanding of construction management software tools used for estimating and project tracking.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting.
• Skilled in reviewing construction drawings for accuracy and completeness; experience with blueprint reading is essential.
• Knowledge of material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and cost control techniques for large-scale projects.
• Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
• Construction site experience is a plus for better understanding of on-site conditions affecting estimates.
• Familiarity with Xactimate or similar estimating tools enhances accuracy in material requirements estimation.

Pay: $75,111.65 - $90,457.04 per year
