Construction Estimator

Job Summary

Omaha Construction Company is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to prepare accurate project estimates, evaluate construction costs, and support the bidding process from initial plans through proposal submission. This role will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams to develop competitive and reliable estimates.

Responsibilities

• Review construction drawings, specifications, scopes, and bid documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost calculations.
• Prepare estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project expenses.
• Solicit and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and potential project risks.
• Prepare bid proposals and supporting documentation.
• Maintain organized estimating files, cost databases, and historical pricing information.
• Communicate with subcontractors and vendors throughout the bidding process.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and field personnel regarding constructability and project requirements.
• Assist with value-engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits when required.
• Support the transition of awarded projects from estimating to project management.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction estimating experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction materials, labor, and project costs.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs and estimating software.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
• Construction management, engineering, or related education is a plus.
• Commercial, industrial, or general contracting experience is preferred.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
