Construction Estimator

Position Overview

In this versatile and highly visible role, the Estimator will be responsible for preparing and securing projects on a regular and timely basis to ensure an ongoing workflow that supports the company's growth objectives. We are looking for a team player who will bring strong working relationships with existing contacts and develop and maintain positive relationships with peers and clients.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Attend pre-bid meetings to prepare accurate estimates.
• Review detailed project plans, specifications, and blueprints to develop comprehensive estimates.
• Perform area calculations.
• Complete material take-offs.
• Review data to determine material and labour requirements and prepare itemized lists.
• Utilize estimating software such as Bluebeam to prepare accurate cost proposals.
• Request quotes from suppliers.
• Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs to establish competitive pricing strategies.
• Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs without compromising quality or safety.
• Prepare detailed bid packages and present proposals that clearly communicate scope, costs, and timelines.
• Follow up on bid results.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills

• Ability to read drawings and specifications
• Excellent communication skills
• Proven estimating experience in the glazing and/or cladding industries
• Extensive knowledge of windows, curtain walls, panels, and other interior and exterior types of glazing and cladding
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple bids simultaneously.
• College diploma or post-graduate certificate
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office

Pay: $45,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
