Construction Estimator

Job Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop accurate and detailed project estimates and formal bids within established deadlines.
• Communicate directly with customers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Review project scope and identify potential issues before submitting bids.
• Coordinate and conduct job site visits and project walkthroughs.
• Prepare pricing requests and bid documents for subcontractors.
• Draft contracts and negotiate revisions or scope changes as required.
• Assist in developing preliminary project schedules, preferably using Critical Path Method principles.
• Transfer awarded projects to the operations team with complete documentation for project kickoff.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers and industry professionals.
• Participate in networking activities to generate referrals and new business opportunities.

Qualifications And Certifications

• Minimum of three years of construction estimating experience in residential or commercial construction.
• Strong understanding of building components, construction assemblies, and construction methods.
• Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with PlanSwift is preferred.
• Experience with SketchUp is preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and take ownership of responsibilities.
• A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
• Willingness to conduct job site inspections and work in varying outdoor conditions.
