Construction Estimator

About the role

Crosskeys Built Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team on a full-time basis in Marleston, South Australia. This is a pivotal role within our organisation, responsible for providing accurate cost assessments and detailed project estimates that form the foundation of our bidding strategy and project profitability. As a Construction Estimator, you will play a critical role in helping us win competitive tenders whilst ensuring our projects are costed appropriately to deliver sustainable margins. Your expertise will directly influence our ability to secure work and maintain our reputation for reliable estimating in the construction industry.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor costs
• Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications and project documentation to identify scope and quantify work requirements
• Conduct site visits and inspections to gather information relevant to project costing and risk assessment
• Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers, subcontractors and material vendors
• Analyse tender documents and contract conditions to understand project requirements and identify potential risks
• Prepare bid submissions and tender proposals with supporting documentation
• Utilise estimating software and tools to develop accurate cost breakdowns and schedules
• Liaise with project managers, quantity surveyors and other stakeholders to clarify project scope and requirements
• Maintain accurate records of estimates, historical data and cost information for future reference and continuous improvement
• Track and analyse actual costs against estimates to refine estimating accuracy over time

What we're looking for

• 5+ years' experience as a Construction Estimator or in a similar estimating role within the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, labour rates and industry standards
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings with confidence
• Excellent attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical skills
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy in cost assessments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
• Knowledge of Australian construction regulations, standards and compliance requirements
• Tertiary qualification in construction management, quantity surveying or a related discipline (preferred)
• Experience with building information modelling (BIM) or quantity take-off software (preferred)
