Construction Estimator

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial construction estimating, with expertise in drywall, metal stud framing, acoustical ceilings, painting, and stucco systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing construction plans and specifications, preparing accurate and competitive bids, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and working closely with project management and operations to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Review architectural drawings, construction plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, painting, and stucco projects.
• Estimate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and other project-related expenses.
• Prepare accurate, competitive, and timely bids for commercial construction projects.
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, clarifications, potential risks, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Develop detailed cost breakdowns and comprehensive bid proposals.
• Coordinate with general contractors, architects, vendors, and internal project teams to clarify project requirements.
• Track bid invitations, deadlines, addenda, and bid submissions.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, labor rates, and material pricing.
• Assist with project handoff to the operations and project management teams after contract award.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-bid scope reviews as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience in commercial construction estimating, preferably with a specialty subcontractor.
• Working knowledge of drywall, metal stud framing, acoustical ceiling systems, commercial painting, and stucco applications.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and architectural details.
• Experience performing digital or manual quantity takeoffs and developing labor and material estimates.
• Understanding of commercial construction methods, labor productivity, material costs, and subcontractor pricing.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and meet strict deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and construction estimating software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Seven or more years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Experience bidding tenant improvements, office buildings, retail spaces, multifamily projects, hospitality, and other commercial developments.
• Familiarity with Planhub, PlanSwift, Bluebeam Revu, On-Screen Takeoff, OST, STACK, or similar estimating platforms.
• Experience preparing proposals and reviewing subcontractor agreements and scopes of work.
• Established relationships with general contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
