Construction Estimator – Commercial Construction

Winters Construction Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.

We specialize in commercial construction, public school renovations, facility improvements, and general construction projects throughout Pennsylvania.

We are looking for a motivated individual who can independently manage the estimating and bidding process, including reviewing construction drawings, performing quantity takeoffs, obtaining subcontractor pricing, preparing detailed estimates, and submitting competitive bids.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and costs, along with the ability to manage multiple bidding opportunities and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and project bid documents.
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
• Review project scopes, identify potential discrepancies, and prepare requests for information (RFIs) when necessary.
• Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Develop complete bid proposals, including scope descriptions, qualifications, exclusions, and pricing.
• Manage multiple estimates and bidding deadlines simultaneously.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and site visits as required.
• Evaluate labor productivity, material pricing, equipment requirements, and project schedules.
• Maintain accurate estimating records, bid documents, and historical project pricing.
• Coordinate with company management to review estimates and finalize bid submissions.
• Prepare change order estimates and pricing for additional work on active projects.
• Track submitted bids and follow up on bid results.
• Assist with project handoffs to field management following successful bids.

Qualifications

Required:

• Previous experience in commercial construction estimating or a closely related construction role.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans, and construction specifications.
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction materials, installation methods, and labor requirements.
• Experience preparing material takeoffs and construction cost estimates.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and general computer applications.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and meet multiple bid deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred:

• Experience estimating public school renovations, commercial renovations, or institutional construction projects.
• Familiarity with Pennsylvania public bidding procedures and prevailing wage requirements.
• Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar construction estimating software.
• Experience obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Knowledge of commercial carpentry, drywall, ceilings, masonry, concrete, doors, and general construction trades.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual Salary: $65,000–$80,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
