Construction Estimator / Quoting Specialist

We’re looking for someone who understands construction, can read plans, likes working with people, and wants to learn the business side of construction.

This isn't a traditional estimating position where you spend the entire day doing takeoffs and handing the number to somebody else. You'll eventually own your projects from the bidding stage forward—reviewing plans, determining material requirements, working with manufacturers and vendors on pricing, communicating with contractors, developing quotes, and making decisions about how we pursue the work.

What the position looks like:

• Review construction plans and specifications and determine required materials
• Perform material takeoffs and build complete bills of material
• Develop and enter project quotes
• Work directly with manufacturers and reps to obtain pricing, lead times, and product information
• Communicate with contractors regarding upcoming projects, bids, changes, and project requirements
• Develop relationships with both customers and vendors
• Follow projects from the bidding stage through award
• Make pricing and margin decisions based on the customer, project, competition, timing, and other factors
• Stay organized while managing multiple projects and bid deadlines

We don't expect you to walk in knowing our products or our industry. We can teach that. We're looking for someone with construction experience who can read plans, communicate well, learn quickly, stay organized, and develop the judgment necessary to make good business decisions.

This is a relationship-driven position. You'll develop your own relationships with contractors, manufacturers and sales representatives, and those relationships will be an important part of your success.

Pay: $65,000–$85,000 per year, depending on experience.
