We are seeking an experienced Construction Foreman to join our team on a major commercial development project in Christchurch.

This is a hands-on site leadership role reporting directly to the Site Manager, with responsibility for driving safe, productive and high-quality day-to-day site operations.

The Role

As Construction Foreman, you will coordinate daily site activities, manage subcontractors and maintain momentum across multiple work fronts.

Working closely with the Site Manager, you will ensure construction activities are properly planned, sequenced and completed in accordance with the programme, drawings, specifications, quality requirements and site standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily site activities across multiple trades and subcontractors.
• Plan and sequence work to maintain productive and efficient work fronts.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with architectural plans, shop drawings, specifications and programme requirements.
• Coordinate subcontractors and maintain effective sequencing between trades.
• Monitor progress and identify programme constraints, risks and potential delays early.
• Take practical corrective action and escalate significant issues to the Site Manager where required.
• Drive site productivity and support achievement of project milestones.
• Hold subcontractors accountable for performance, quality, safety and delivery requirements.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, housekeeping and site presentation.
• Assist with deliveries, materials handling, site access and logistics.
• Support quality inspections and defect-management processes.
• Promote safe working practices and compliance with project health and safety requirements.
• Provide clear direction and communication to subcontractors and site teams.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for someone with:

• At least 2 years’ experience as a Foreman or in a comparable site-supervision role within the New Zealand construction industry.
• Demonstrated façade experience on multi-level structures – this is essential.
• Strong commercial construction experience.
• A trade-qualified background in Carpentry, or a relevant tertiary qualification such as Construction Management.
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural plans, shop drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, coordination and buildability.
• Practical knowledge of New Zealand construction practices, building standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and work fronts.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution capability.
• Clear and confident communication skills.

Fixed-Term Opportunity

This is a one-year fixed-term opportunity to join Platform Construction and contribute to the delivery of a major project within our growing Canterbury portfolio.

You will be part of an experienced site team with the opportunity to take ownership of day-to-day site delivery, work across multiple trades and play a key role in achieving project milestones.

Full details of the fixed-term arrangement will be confirmed in the employment agreement.
