Construction Grading Supervisor

Dean Word Company has an opening for a construction supervisor. Candidates must have at least 2 years experience working as a supervisor in the highway construction industry.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead daily field operations involving grading, excavation, and paving preparation
• Serve as the primary on-site safety leader, identifying and stopping unsafe acts or conditions
• Read, interpret, and ensure field work complies with civil plans, blueprints, and DOT specifications
• Direct and coordinate foremen, equipment operators, and grade checkers
• Schedule and coordinate material deliveries, equipment utilization, and staffing levels
• Monitor daily production and maintain progress toward project schedules and goals
• Track production, project costs, and schedule performance
• Communicate with project management and field personnel regarding project progress, needs, and challenges
• Maintain a safe, productive, and organized jobsite

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in heavy civil or highway grading
• 2–5 years of direct supervisory or leadership experience preferred

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of soil types, compaction requirements, grading, and grade control
• Ability to understand and work from civil plans, blueprints, and DOT specifications
• Experience coordinating heavy equipment and field construction activities

Certifications & Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to effectively lead crews and communicate with field personnel
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
