Construction Inspector

James J. Hahn Engineering, P.C. is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to join our civil and environmental engineering team.

This full-time position involves field inspection and documentation for municipal infrastructure projects throughout Westchester and Putnam Counties, NY, including roadway, sidewalk, drainage, and stormwater improvements.

Responsibilities

• Inspect roadway resurfacing, reconstruction, sidewalks, curbs, drainage, and stormwater improvements
• Observe construction for conformance with project plans and specifications
• Monitor contractor progress and document daily field activity
• Prepare daily inspection reports and site documentation
• Photograph site conditions and construction progress
• Measure and track construction quantities
• Review contractor work against plans and specifications
• Identify field conditions or issues requiring review by the project engineer
• Communicate directly with contractors in the field
• Review or verify contractor pay quantities
• Support additional municipal infrastructure projects as needed

Qualifications

• Familiarity with municipal or public infrastructure construction preferred
• Strong attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to maintain accurate field documentation
• Ability to work independently at active construction sites
• Ability to travel between project locations
• Valid driver’s license
• Local candidates preferred

Position Details

• Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Primary work area: Westchester and Putnam Counties, NY
