· Review contractor payment requests and provide recommendations regarding quantities and reasonableness to the Resident Engineer.

· Identify potential extra work and changed conditions; promptly notify the Resident Engineer and assist with cost estimates and supporting documentation.

· Monitor confined-space entry procedures and compliance with applicable OSHA requirements, including Subpart AA.

· Inspect and document annular grouting operations, including approved mix design, density, pressure, and related field records.

· Verify vibration, settlement, and other monitoring activities when required by the contract.

· Communicate effectively with the Resident Engineer, Assistant Resident Engineer, contractor personnel, inspectors, and agency representatives.

· Maintain project records in accordance with NYCDDC Standard Records requirements and project filing protocols.

· Support coordination with NYCDEP, NYC DOT, NYC Parks, Con Edison, National Grid, and other involved agencies and stakeholders.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum 3 years of experience inspecting NYC infrastructure projects, with sewer or water-main experience under NYCDDC contracts preferred.

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or NICET - II Certification.

· Demonstrated understanding of sewer rehabilitation, sewer lining, grouting, and/or confined-space construction methods.

· Working knowledge of construction contract administration, including unit-price and lump-sum contracts.

· Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, shop drawings, and related technical documents.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; familiarity with PIMS/PDMS or similar project-management systems is preferred.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, accurate field documentation.

· OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety Training required.

· Confined-Space Entry certification preferred; candidates must be willing to obtain certification if required.

· Ability to work in the field and travel daily to the Rockaway, Queens project site.

· Willingness and availability to work occasional night shifts when required by the construction schedule.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
