Construction Manager

About the role

Tuah Bersatu Jaya Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our team in Sabah. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in overseeing construction projects from inception to completion. As Construction Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position is integral to our operations, requiring strong leadership and management capabilities to coordinate all aspects of construction delivery and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders, contractors, and team members.

Key responsibilities

• Planning and scheduling construction activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines and milestones
• Managing project budgets, monitoring costs, and implementing cost-control measures to maximise profitability
• Supervising and coordinating work performed by contractors, subcontractors, and construction teams on-site
• Conducting regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards
• Preparing and maintaining comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports, daily logs, and as-built records
• Liaising with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to communicate project status and resolve issues
• Managing material procurement and logistics to ensure timely availability of resources on-site
• Identifying and mitigating construction risks and implementing corrective actions when necessary
• Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and promoting a safe working environment
• Managing project changes and variations whilst maintaining project integrity and stakeholder satisfaction

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction management within the construction industry
• Proven track record of successfully managing multiple construction projects of varying complexity and scale
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices
• Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail
• Leadership and team management capabilities with the ability to motivate and coordinate teams
• Knowledge of Malaysian building codes, safety regulations, and construction standards
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Professional certifications such as PMP, CIOB, or equivalent are advantageous
