Construction Manager / Owner’s Representative – Data Centre

📍 Zurich, Switzerland | Full-time on site

💷 Circa €120,000 p.a. pro rata | Initial 9-month contract

Major hyperscale data-centre project. Client-side position. Serious construction responsibility without directly running the GC’s workforce.

Join the client-side delivery team on a major Zurich development, overseeing the General Contractor, challenging programme and quality, and making sure the client has a clear view of what is really happening on site.

About the role

You’ll act as the Owner’s Representative during construction , providing day-to-day oversight of the General Contractor and wider project team.

This is not a traditional site-management role. You won’t manage trades or dictate construction methods. You’ll represent the client: monitoring delivery, identifying risk early, challenging performance and driving issues through to resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the General Contractor and key delivery partners on behalf of the client.
• Monitor construction progress against programme and key milestones.
• Identify delays, dependencies and delivery risks early.
• Challenge contractor performance and recovery plans where required.
• Coordinate construction interfaces across design, utilities, infrastructure and commissioning.
• Monitor quality and compliance with approved design and client requirements.
• Review RFIs, technical submittals, design changes and contractor reporting.
• Support change management and identify potential programme, cost and delivery impacts.
• Work closely with client-side PMs, commercial teams, designers and specialist consultants.
• Support snagging, commissioning readiness, handover and close-out.

Requirements

• Strong track record delivering large-scale, technically complex construction projects .
• Proven data-centre or mission-critical construction experience .
• Background with a Tier 1 / major Main Contractor, developer or client-side construction team .
• Strong practical site knowledge — able to assess actual construction progress beyond contractor reports.
• Experience overseeing General Contractors and multiple delivery partners.
• Strong programme, quality and risk-management awareness.
• Confidence to challenge contractors professionally and hold delivery teams accountable.
• Fluent English.

Desirable

• Previous Owner’s Representative / client-side construction experience.
• Hyperscale data-centre delivery.
• Commissioning, handover and construction-readiness exposure.
• Swiss construction / authority / utility experience.
• Relevant construction, engineering or project-management qualification.
• German language capability.

Location & engagement

This is a full-time, site-based role in Zurich .

Candidates already based in or around Zurich are preferred. Travel and accommodation are not normally included, although alternative arrangements may be considered for an exceptional candidate with particularly strong data-centre experience.

Applicants who already have the right to work in Switzerland , or who can readily obtain the appropriate permit, will be prioritised.

The precise engagement and payroll model will be agreed around the successful candidate.
