Construction Manager

About the role

DJS Interior Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our team in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur on a full-time basis. This is a strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing construction projects from inception through to completion. As Construction Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be instrumental in coordinating all aspects of construction operations, managing teams, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and oversee all construction activities on assigned projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications and contractual requirements
• Monitor project progress and maintain detailed records of timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
• Manage project budgets, control costs, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution
• Conduct regular site inspections to verify that work meets quality standards and safety requirements
• Manage and supervise construction teams, including labourers, tradespeople and site staff
• Identify and resolve project challenges, risks and delays through effective problem-solving and communication
• Ensure all health and safety regulations and standards are adhered to throughout the construction process
• Prepare and submit progress reports to senior management and clients
• Maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing concerns promptly

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in construction management or a similar senior construction role
• Proven track record of successfully managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, safety regulations and industry best practices
• Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling and resource planning
• Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office applications
• Outstanding organisational and time management abilities
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Certification in Construction Safety or Health and Safety Management is preferred
