Construction Manager

Job Scope:

Coordinate and manage Pekat E&LP engineering and construction activities, ensuring earthing and lightning protection works are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with approved requirements, specifications, quality standards, and project schedules, while leading the site team and coordinating with all relevant project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Engineering & Technical Coordination

• Coordinate and manage engineering and construction activities for earthing and lightning protection systems in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and project requirements.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager, engineers, drafters, supervisors, subcontractors, and site teams to ensure smooth and accurate site execution.
• Provide technical guidance, communicate approved revisions and instructions, and resolve technical or constructability issues promptly.

B. Construction Planning & Execution

• Develop and monitor construction plans, work sequences, and site execution strategies based on work fronts, access, manpower, materials, and equipment.
• Ensure all construction activities are properly coordinated, sequenced, and executed in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, specifications, and project requirements.
• Monitor site conditions, identify potential constraints, and take necessary actions to maintain progress in line with the project programme.

C. Programme & Progress Management

• Monitor planned versus actual construction progress and identify potential delays or critical issues early.
• Implement recovery actions and coordinate with the Project Manager and Main Contractor on priorities, work-front releases, and programme recovery.
• Ensure critical activities are closely monitored and adequate manpower, materials, and resources are deployed to meet project milestones.

Manpower, Material & Equipment Management

• Plan and manage manpower across multiple work fronts, ensuring teams are deployed effectively according to project priorities.
• Monitor manpower productivity and coordinate the availability of tools, equipment, lifting equipment, and other construction resources.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager, Procurement, and Warehouse teams to ensure materials are available on time and address any potential shortages or delays.

Site Team & Subcontractor Management

• Lead and coordinate Site Supervisors, Engineers, subcontractors, and installers to ensure effective site execution.
• Monitor site productivity, workmanship, and subcontractor performance, taking corrective action where required.
• Provide clear work instructions, assign responsibilities, and promote teamwork, accountability, and effective communication within the site team.

Qualification:

• Education: Bachelor degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Experience: At least 6–12 years relevant construction experience, preferably in Data Centre / M&E / E&LP projects.

Skills Required:

• Understanding of earthing, lightning protection, MV trench, roof earth mesh and related E&LP works.
• Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection and testing requirements.
• Understanding of project safety, quality and contractual requirements.
• Basic commercial awareness including progress claims, VO, EOT and site records.
