The firm has grown to a staff of about 50 team members, including a strong group of geotechnical engineers supporting a wide range of projects. Corsair provides hands-on principal involvement, ensuring clients receive direct, technical guidance on public and private projects in industrial, transportation, infrastructure, defense, and energy sectors. The company emphasizes exceptional service, technical excellence, and long-term client relationships. As a certified Asian DBE, MBE, and HUB firm, Corsair offers added value to clients while focusing on performance and quality rather than certification alone.
Role Description The Construction Materials Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Leander, TX. This role is responsible for performing field and laboratory testing of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards. Day-to-day tasks include collecting samples at job sites, conducting standardized tests, recording and organizing test data, and communicating results to project managers and engineers. The technician will support quality control and quality assurance efforts, assist with inspection activities, and help identify any issues that may affect construction performance or safety. The role also involves maintaining testing equipment, following safety procedures, and working collaboratively with contractors, engineers, and other team members in the field.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of construction materials, including soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates, and an understanding of basic geotechnical and civil engineering principles.
- Ability to perform standardized field and laboratory tests (e.g., concrete cylinder and slump tests, soil density and moisture tests) and accurately document test procedures and results.
- Strong attention to detail, data recording, and organizational skills for maintaining logs, reports, and project documentation.
- Capability to work safely in outdoor construction environments, including lifting materials and equipment, standing for extended periods, and following safety protocols.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with engineers, project managers, and construction personnel, and for reporting findings clearly and professionally.
- Basic computer skills for entering data, preparing simple reports, and using standard office and project-related software.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical coursework or certification in construction materials testing or related fields is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to and from job sites in the Leander and greater Austin area.
- Prior experience in construction materials testing, inspection, or laboratory work is beneficial but motivated
