Construction Project Engineer

Your drawings get built. Not just rendered.

Here, the model you build today becomes a road, a runway, or a subdivision, and the machines in the field run from your models. The finished product is something you can drive on.

You’ll work on the technical side of our construction operation: CAD, 3D modeling, drone mapping, machine-control models, estimating, scheduling, project coordination, and documentation. Architecture graduates with strong CAD skills and an interest in construction are especially encouraged to apply.

What you’ll do

• Build construction drawings and 3D models for roadway, paving, grading, drainage, and site work
• Interpret engineering plans, specifications, elevations, slopes, and survey information
• Build terrain models for GPS-controlled dozers, graders, and other equipment (Trimble and Topcon)
• Process drone flights into orthomosaics and surfaces for mapping, quantities, and progress tracking (Agisoft)
• Perform quantity takeoffs and help prepare estimates and bids (Agtek)
• Build and update project schedules in Primavera P6
• Manage submittals, RFIs, change documentation, plan revisions, and drawing logs
• Catch conflicts, missing information, and constructability problems before they reach the field
• Work with project managers, survey, field crews, owners, engineers, and inspectors
• Make periodic jobsite visits to verify conditions and see your work being built

You need to come in knowing CAD. We’ll train you on our construction software and add responsibilities as you grow.

Start in CAD, estimating, scheduling, and project documentation while learning how the work gets built. Grow into project engineering, estimating, project management, project controls, or construction technology based on ability and interest. This is a construction career, not a placeholder.

The details
This is an office-based technical role at a working heavy civil construction company. Typical weeks run 45-50 hours, and deadlines follow active construction bid deadlines, so there will be periods of heavier workload.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, or about to graduate, in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, Engineering Technology, or a related field
• Working CAD skills (AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or similar) and the ability to think in three dimensions
• Want to see what you draw and model get built
• Highly detail-oriented, and notice when dimensions, quantities, or data don’t add up
• Learn new software quickly
• Communicate clearly in writing and in person
• Valid driver’s license
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship

Experience with surveying or drone photogrammetry is a plus but not a requirement.
