What they need

Forte Renewables

Forte Renewables is a global renewable energy consulting firm specializing in the technologies of wind, solar PV and BESS. Our mission is to be an industry leader by providing best-in-class services tailored to the complex and diverse needs of our clients to ensure they achieve their project goals.

Since its founding in 2012, Forte has completed projects in 30 countries on 5 continents with our main offices in Amsterdam and Warsaw supported by other regional satellite offices.

Opportunity Description

We are currently looking for a candidate to join our team for the position of Construction Project Engineer for overseeing three projects in Eastern Germany (near Prenzlau, Pasewalk and Penkun). All three wind farms are located relatively close to one another, within a radius of approximately 30 km.

The position is suitable for candidates based either in Eastern Germany or across the border in Poland, provided they are located within reasonable travelling distance of the project sites. The Project Engineer will visit each project site approximately once a week. The remainder of the working week can be performed remotely.

The role will be to act as Technical Advisor to the client who is purchasing the 3 projects. The Project Engineer will monitor the activities carried out by the vendors project management team and EPC contractors, providing independent technical oversight on behalf of the client.

(This is a technical advisor role focused on assessing the performance of the vendor in managing quality on the sites and with interaction mostly with the vendor (and low involvement with contractors) rather than a traditional Owner's Engineer position with direct responsibility for QHSE or project management and direct regular interaction with contractors).

Definition Role

The Project Engineer will be the professional responsible for overseeing and monitoring on-site construction activities throughout the execution of wind farm projects on behalf of Forte Renewables. They will ensure that all construction works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved designs, contractual requirements, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements.

Working as the Purchasers representative on site, the Project Engineer will coordinate with contractors, clients, and project stakeholders to monitor progress, quality, and compliance while identifying and resolving technical issues during construction. Their work ensures that wind farm projects are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance, supporting the successful completion of projects on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

· Monitoring construction activities on utility-scale wind farm projects

· Monitoring construction progress to ensure compliance with project schedules, technical specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations.

· Verifying the quality of civil, electrical, and mechanical works in accordance with approved designs, industry standards, and QA/QC procedures.

· Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) requirements and promoting a strong safety culture on site.

· Coordinating with contractors, clients, project managers, designers, and other project stakeholders to support the successful delivery of projects.

· Conducting regular site inspections and identifying construction risks, technical issues, and non-conformities while recommending corrective actions.

· Reviewing construction documentation, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and as-built documentation.

· Witnessing inspections, testing, commissioning, and acceptance activities for wind farm infrastructure and equipment.

· Monitoring contractor performance and reporting on project progress, quality, risks, and key construction milestones.

· Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly site reports, including technical observations, photographic documentation, and progress updates.

· Supporting project commissioning, final inspections, punch-list management, and project handover.

· Building and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.

· Ensuring that all site activities are performed in accordance with Forte Renewables' quality standards, client expectations, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • University degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience (5+ years preferred) as a Site Engineer, Resident Engineer, Construction Supervisor, or Owner's Engineer on infrastructure, energy, or renewable energy projects.
  • Proven experience in the construction of utility-scale onshore wind farms.
  • Strong understanding of civil, electrical, and mechanical construction activities related to wind farm projects.
  • Knowledge of European construction standards, quality management principles (QA/QC), and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Experience monitoring contractors, supervising construction activities, and coordinating multiple stakeholders on site.
  • Experience in an Owner's Engineer or Construction Monitoring role is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and contract administration will be considered an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with project management and reporting tools is an asset.
  • Fluent German (minimum B2/C1) and good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to work on-site and travel between projects in Eastern Germany.
  • Valid Category B driving licence.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in an international project environment.
