What they need

YOUR ROLE

As Project Manager at TynanGroup, you drive the planning, execution, and successful completion of premier development and renovation projects spanning multiple sectors including hospitality, institutional, office, mixed-use, medical, educational and public works projects. You maintain consistent oversight of a project's many complexities, engineering efficient solutions to potential problems and aligning all stakeholders to the goals of the project. You lead your project team and work closely with the client to organize and establish a detailed action plan and oversee the execution of that plan at the highest level of quality. Through concept, design, permitting, construction, and close-out, you are responsible for directing the course of a project and ensuring its completion on time and on budget.

This is a mid- to senior-level position reporting to executive management, and will be based out of the Tempe TynanGroup office.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Align all stakeholders to client goals and objectives.

Coordinate Design Management: Set clear project milestones, facilitate communication between stakeholders, and regularly review progress against set plans and milestones. Resolve constructability issues and assist with value engineering efforts as requested. Coordinate with onsite consultants during site visits and consultant reporting.

Coordinate Construction Management: Facilitate communication between client, architect, engineer, and contractors, and ensure construction aligns with design plans. Supervise the work of contractors and vendors and give them guidance when needed. Review reports and resolve all field/non-compliance issues.

Project Budget Control: Manage the RFP process and contract negotiations. Assist with contract administration and ensure that the project is constructed per contract documents. Provide constant budget oversight to ensure costs are managed and align with project plans and client expectations, including reviewing and approving project invoices.

Project Schedule Control: Manage the overall project master schedule; review and comment on the GC project schedule, logic, and timing; and use schedule updates, including GC lookaheads, to interface with other project participants such as FF&E / OS&E, Owner and Owner entities, third-party testing agencies and inspectors, and commissioning.

Contract Management: Become familiar with all project-related contracts, ensuring execution of all contractual requirements on the project.

FF&E/OS&E Coordination: Coordinate and assist with FF&E / OS&E activities where schedule and contractor(s) are involved.

Meeting & Reporting: Manage and lead Design and OAC meetings, setting agendas and driving decisions and action items to closure. Evaluate progress and prepare detailed weekly and/or monthly status reports. Manage and coordinate the RFI, submittal, and change order process, and oversee project document

control, to avoid project delays and cost issues. Perform daily field and safety observations / job walks and report to the responsible party through e-mail, escalating to the Project Director if non-compliance persists.

Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the project team, including the Assistant Project Manager and supporting FF&E, accounting, and systems staff, providing clear direction and guidance.

Close-Out Management: Oversee punch list creation and execution, project close-out, and client turnover as required.

YOUR COMPETENCIES

  • Proven experience as a construction project manager
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures, materials, and project management principles
  • Strong cost-management ability, including full budget ownership — buyout, cost control, forecasting, and fee protection — with sound change management and claims avoidance
  • Proficiency with construction/project management software such as Bluebeam and MS Project
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • A levelheaded, open-minded team player with leadership abilities
  • Beginning to take an active role in business development, expanding industry relationships and networking
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, ever-changing environment
  • Must be proactive and flexible
  • E-mail, Outlook, and Office Suite (Word, Excel) skills required
  • Ability to work from job sites while staying in communication with other TG team members and offices
