ABOUT COBE CONSTRUCTION

At COBE Construction, Inc. , we are Commercial Builders and Engineers who take great pride in delivering exceptional value on every project we build.

We specialize in complex, technically challenging commercial construction throughout Silicon Valley. Our projects include advanced technology, semiconductor, data center, medical, and Class A office environments, working with many of the Bay Area's leading companies.

COBE is also different from a traditional general contractor. We have developed our own proprietary software and advanced project management tools that help our teams communicate better, work more efficiently, and spend less time on administrative tasks.

We believe our success comes from great people, a can-do attitude, strong teamwork, extreme ownership, and a genuine commitment to work-life balance. We want our employees to build successful careers while still having time for the people and things that matter outside of work.

OUR CORE VALUES

Ultimate Team Player

We succeed together and support the people around us.

Extreme Ownership

We take responsibility, solve problems, and follow through.

We treat our clients, subcontractors, and teammates with respect and integrity.

ABOUT THE POSITION

As a Project Manager at COBE, you will take ownership of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion. You will work closely with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, superintendents, and our internal project teams to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest level of quality.

Our projects typically range from $2 million to $20+ million and are often complex and technically demanding.

This is not simply a project administration role. We are looking for someone who wants to lead projects, build relationships, solve problems, develop people, and take responsibility for the results.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Lead project planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and execution.
  • Prepare estimates, budgets, bid proposals, and subcontractor scopes.
  • Manage subcontractor bidding, selection, and procurement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Bay Area subcontractors and trade partners.
  • Manage project costs, contracts, change orders, billings, forecasting, and profitability.
  • Coordinate closely with the Superintendent and project team to maintain project schedule, quality, and productivity.
  • Manage the MEP design-build process and coordinate with design-build trade partners.
  • Identify potential problems early, develop solutions, and drive issues to resolution.
  • Lead and develop Project Engineers, Project Coordinators, and other members of the project management team.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Use COBE's technology and project management systems to improve communication, accountability, and project performance.
  • Maintain a strong focus on client satisfaction while protecting COBE's financial interests.
  • Help continuously improve COBE's processes, technology, and approach to construction management.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOREXPERIENCE

  • 3–5+ years of commercial construction experience working for a General Contractor, preferably in the Bay Area.
  • Demonstrated experience managing commercial construction projects in the 2M–20M+ range .
  • Experience with estimating, bid management, subcontractor procurement, and project financial management.
  • Experience with negotiated and/or design-build projects.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems and the MEP design-build process.
  • Experience working on technically complex commercial projects.
  • Experience managing and developing members of a project management team is a plus.

QUALITIES WE VALUE

We are looking for someone who:

  • Takes extreme ownership of their projects and responsibilities.
  • Is proactive, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Is comfortable making decisions and solving problems without waiting for someone else to provide the answer.
  • Builds genuine, long-term relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • Can hold people accountable while maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Understands project financials and is motivated by creating profitable projects.
  • Enjoys working in an entrepreneurial environment where things are constantly evolving.
  • Is curious and willing to challenge the way things have always been done.
  • Has a passion for technology and believes there are better ways to manage construction.
  • Wants to help advance the construction industry and make the building process easier and more efficient.
  • Is a strong communicator and an ultimate team player .
