What they need
Connexus is working with a well-established organisation seeking to appoint a Construction Project Manager to support its ongoing development and investment projects across Ireland.
This is an opportunity to move away from the traditional main contractor environment and gain experience managing construction projects from the client side.
Working within an experienced in-house team, you’ll be involved in a range of new-build and refurbishment projects, taking responsibility for coordinating contractors, overseeing construction activity and ensuring successful project delivery.
The business offers a supportive environment where you can build on your existing site experience, develop your commercial understanding and take on greater project ownership over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day delivery of construction and refurbishment projects across multiple locations.
- Coordinate external contractors, consultants and suppliers to ensure projects progress in line with agreed timelines and budgets.
- Work alongside internal design and commercial teams throughout the construction process.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, safety and compliance.
- Assist with tender evaluations, procurement processes and contractor selection.
- Identify potential project risks, address delivery challenges and ensure issues are resolved efficiently.
- Manage project completion activities, including snagging, final inspections and handover.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external project partners.
Requirements
- Approximately five years' experience within the construction industry, preferably gained with a main contractor.
- Previous experience in site management, project coordination or construction delivery.
- Relevant third-level qualification in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, site operations and contractor management.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
- Good commercial awareness, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel to project locations throughout Ireland.
Why This Opportunity?
This position offers the chance to transition into an in-house construction team while continuing to work on varied projects across Ireland.
Rather than focusing solely on site delivery, you’ll gain greater visibility of the wider project lifecycle, working closely with internal decision-makers and developing your experience across planning, procurement, construction and handover.
With hybrid working, support from experienced colleagues and opportunities to take on increasing responsibility, it's an attractive next step for someone looking to progress their career in construction project management.
