About us

InterLux Construction is the construction company of InterLux Interiors, a luxury interior design firm working in Tampa and Miami. InterLux Interiors designs residential, commercial and yacht interiors. InterLux Construction builds them.

We take a small number of high-end projects each year. Contracts are fixed price. We work with the best subcontractors in the market and we expect finish quality that holds up to editorial photography.

You will be the first full-time construction hire. You will work beside the design team every day, so drawings, selections and field conditions get resolved before they cost money.

What you will do

Preconstruction

  • Review design drawings for constructability and flag conflicts before pricing.
  • Build scopes of work, solicit and level subcontractor bids, and assemble fixed-price estimates.
  • Prepare permit packages for the qualifying agent's review and signature.
  • Build the baseline schedule and the procurement schedule with the design and purchasing teams.

Construction

  • Supervise every site in person as the superintendent. Run each job day to day: subcontractor scheduling, site logistics, deliveries and site protection.
  • Hold finish quality to the design intent. Walk the work daily and reject what does not meet the standard.
  • Manage condo and HOA requirements: work hours, elevator reservations, insurance certificates and building rules.
  • Coordinate millwork, stone, lighting, AV and specialty trades with the design team and consultants.
  • Schedule inspections and attend them with the qualifying agent as needed.
  • Enforce site safety and keep the site clean and client-ready.

Cost and schedule control

  • Own the job budget. Track committed and actual cost against the estimate every week.
  • Price and document change orders before the work proceeds.
  • Review subcontractor pay applications and collect lien releases.
  • Update the schedule weekly and report variances with a recovery plan.

Client and reporting

  • Give clients a weekly written update with photos, progress, next steps and open decisions.
  • Keep daily logs, RFIs, submittals and meeting minutes current.
  • Brief the qualifying agent on every active job and keep a record of his or her site visits and reviews.

Closeout

  • Run the punch list to zero.
  • Deliver warranties, manuals and final lien releases.
  • Hand the space to the design team ready for furniture installation.

What we are looking for

Required

  • Active Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC) or Certified Building Contractor (CBC) license, in good standing with no disciplinary history.
  • 7 or more years in construction, with hands-on experience as both site superintendent and project manager, on luxury residential or high-end commercial interiors.
  • A record of projects delivered on fixed-price contracts, with references from clients, designers or architects.
  • Experience building in occupied condo towers and waterfront homes in Florida.
  • Working knowledge of the Florida Building Code and the local permit and inspection process in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
  • Strong estimating, scheduling and cost-control skills. You can build a budget and defend it.
  • Fluency in reading architectural, interior design, millwork and MEP drawings.
  • An eye for finish. You know the difference between acceptable and right, and you hold trades to it.
  • Clear written and spoken communication with high-net-worth clients.
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling software, such as Buildertrend, Procore or MS Project.
  • OSHA 30, or willingness to complete it within 90 days.
  • Valid Florida driver's license and reliable vehicle.

Preferred

  • Prior experience serving as a qualifying agent. The right candidate may be considered for that role here, with added compensation.
  • An established network of high-end subcontractors in Tampa Bay region and Miami areas.
  • Experience working inside or alongside an interior design or architecture firm.
  • Experience with custom millwork, natural stone, specialty finishes, lighting control and AV integration.
  • Miami or South Florida project experience.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.

Compensation and how to apply

  • Base salary: $90,000-$100,000, based on experience and licensure.
  • Performance bonus tied to project margin, schedule and client satisfaction.
  • Vehicle and phone allowance.
  • Benefits: Health, vision, dental insurance, PTO, referral program.

Send your resume, a list of three to five completed projects with contract values and your role on each, and your Florida CGC or CBC license number, to [email protected]. Background check and license verification are part of the hiring process.
