About Shepperd Construction
Shepperd Construction is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial reconstruction, restoration, multifamily, building-envelope, and specialty construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
Our Project Managers are expected to take ownership of the entire project — schedule, budget, subcontractors, documentation, client communication, field coordination, and project results.
Since 2014, Shepperd Construction has built its reputation on quality workmanship, clear communication, accountability, safety, and doing what we say we will do.
Our goal is simple: Leave it better than we found it.
What You’ll Do
* Own project delivery from preconstruction and turnover through construction, punch, and closeout.
* Manage project schedules, budgets, cost forecasts, change orders, billing, and documentation.
* Partner closely with the Superintendent to coordinate subcontractors, materials, inspections, sequencing, and daily field progress.
* Maintain short-term and long-term project planning, including two-week and 60-day look-aheads.
* Lead subcontractor buyout and identify scope gaps before they become project problems.
* Track committed costs, exposures, change orders, and projected costs to complete.
* Review plans, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, RFIs, submittals, and project requirements.
* Lead or participate in OAC/OEC meetings and provide clear, accurate project updates.
* Communicate regularly with owners, property managers, consultants, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders.
* Identify schedule, financial, quality, and contractual risks early and develop practical solutions.
* Maintain accurate project records in Autodesk Build, including RFIs, submittals, issues, meeting documentation, change information, inspections, photos, punch items, and closeout records.
* Coordinate work on occupied properties with attention to resident access, cleanliness, safety, and minimizing disruption.
* Support project billing and ensure change-order documentation is complete, accurate, and defensible.
* Maintain Shepperd’s standards for safety, quality, professionalism, and accountability.
What You Bring
* Proven construction project management experience with responsibility for project schedules, financials, subcontractors, and client communication.
* Experience managing commercial construction, reconstruction, multifamily, restoration, building-envelope, or similarly complex projects.
* Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
* Strong financial understanding, including budgeting, forecasting, buyout, cost exposure, margin, and project profitability.
* Ability to develop and manage construction schedules.
* Ability to read plans and specifications and work effectively with field teams, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and consultants.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Sound judgment and the ability to identify problems early, develop options, and recommend solutions.
* A high level of organization, follow-through, and personal accountability.
* Comfort using construction-management technology and maintaining accurate project records.
* A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites within the assigned market.
Preferred Experience
Experience with Autodesk Build, AIA billing, occupied multifamily properties, building-envelope repairs, waterproofing, structural reconstruction, insurance restoration, invasive testing, or construction-defect repairs is a plus.
What Success Looks Like
Successful Project Managers at Shepperd know their projects.
They understand where the project stands financially, what is happening in the field, what is coming next, what risks need attention, and what commitments have been made to the client and project team.
We expect our Project Managers to:
* Take ownership of their projects.
* Communicate problems early rather than allowing them to grow.
* Come prepared to WIP and project meetings.
* Keep the office and field aligned.
* Maintain accurate project documentation.
* Protect the project financially and contractually.
* Hold subcontractors and project partners accountable.
* Bring solutions, not just problems.
* Follow through on commitments.
* Represent Shepperd professionally with clients and project partners.
Why Shepperd?
You’ll work on meaningful projects with a team that values accountability, communication, quality, and lasting relationships.
Our Project Managers have a visible role in how projects are delivered and how clients experience Shepperd Construction. You will work closely with field leadership, company leadership, clients, consultants, and subcontractors and have the opportunity to directly influence project outcomes.
We want people who take ownership, communicate clearly, solve problems, and care about leaving the project, the relationship, and the team better than they found it.
