What they need

Annual salary: Competitive with a company car or allowance

At Watkin Jones, we're looking for an exceptional Construction Project Manager to help deliver our landmark 890-bed Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) development at Temple Island, Bristol.

This is not a role for someone looking to simply maintain the status quo. We're seeking a proven project manager with experience delivering large-scale, multi-storey residential or high-rise developments, who thrives in complex construction environments and is confident managing schemes of significant scale and value.

Working alongside the Construction Director, you'll play a pivotal role in taking this flagship project from construction through to successful completion, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, programme performance and stakeholder engagement throughout.

The Opportunity

The Temple Island project offers the chance to leave a lasting mark on a landmark scheme in a thriving city centre location.

You'll be responsible for coordinating the project team, managing subcontractors and consultants, driving programme delivery, mitigating risk, and ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time and within budget.

If you're experienced in managing large residential developments and enjoy leading from the front, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

As the Construction Project Manager, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of a major high-rise residential development, ensuring the project progresses safely, efficiently and in line with programme milestones. Working closely with the Construction Director, you will act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders, building strong relationships and providing regular updates on project performance. You will oversee site operations, managing subcontractors, consultants and project teams to achieve the highest standards of quality and delivery. The role will involve proactively identifying and mitigating risks, coordinating procurement activities to support the construction programme, and ensuring full compliance with health, safety, fire and quality requirements. You will also monitor project progress, prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders, and support design development and construction planning to ensure the successful delivery of the scheme from inception through to completion**.**

About You

We're particularly interested in speaking with individuals who have experience delivering:

  • High-rise residential developments.
  • Large-scale apartment, PBSA, Build-to-Rent or mixed-use schemes.
  • Multi-million-pound construction projects from inception through to completion.
  • Complex city-centre developments with multiple stakeholders.

You'll also have:

  • NVQ Level 4, HND or Degree in Construction, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • SMSTS certification and a valid CSCS card.
  • A strong understanding of the full construction lifecycle and build sequence.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to balance programme, budget and quality objectives.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and confidence learning and using project management and reporting systems.

What Success Looks Like

You'll be someone who remains calm under pressure, can make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment, and has the credibility and experience to lead teams delivering complex developments. You'll understand what it takes to successfully deliver a project of this scale and will be motivated by the challenge of creating a landmark scheme that will shape Bristol's skyline for years to come.

Ready for Your Next Challenge?

If you've successfully delivered high-rise residential projects and are looking for the opportunity to lead a flagship development with one of the UK's leading developers and contractors, we'd love to hear from you.
