About the Role
We’re looking for a Construction Project Manager to lead commercial renovation projects from planning through completion. You will manage schedules, budgets, procurement, and client communication while working closely with Site Supervisors, subcontractors, designers, and vendors to keep each project moving.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and weekly work plans.
- Manage project budgets, track costs, and flag potential overruns early.
- Coordinate with Site Supervisors on daily progress, staffing, quality, and upcoming work.
- Schedule subcontractors and coordinate trade sequencing across project phases.
- Review drawings, scopes of work, and field conditions; resolve discrepancies with the appropriate team.
- Coordinate material selections, purchasing, and deliveries to meet construction schedules.
- Serve as the primary client contact, provide regular updates, and document decisions.
- Prepare and track change orders, including scope, pricing, approval, and schedule impacts.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, licensed trades, and relevant parties on permits and inspections.
- Conduct site visits to verify progress and workmanship.
- Maintain accurate project records, including meeting notes, progress reports, RFIs, and submittals.
- Identify risks early, communicate their impact, and propose practical solutions.
- Manage punch lists, closeout documentation, and final handover.
Qualifications
Required:
- At least 3 years of relevant construction project management experience, or equivalent experience as an Assistant Project Manager with increasing responsibility.
- Experience with interior renovations or commercial build-outs.
- Ability to read construction drawings and understand trade sequencing, MEP coordination, and finish work.
- Experience managing schedules, budgets, subcontractors, procurement, and change orders.
- Strong organizational skills and consistent written documentation.
- Clear communication with clients, field teams, and project partners.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and follow through on deadlines.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and project management tools.
- Ability to travel between the office and assigned NYC project sites.
Preferred:
- Experience delivering restaurant, café, or retail projects in NYC.
- Familiarity with NYC permitting and inspection processes.
- Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
Compensation
Base salary: $85,000–$105,000 annually, depending on relevant experience and qualifications.
